Redirections & Introductions

April 17, 2013 § 3 Comments

After several months of trial and error, testing and retesting, pondering and posturing…

I’m finally excited to launch my new website and blog! We’re moving!!

OG_Logo_Gry130

The new website is really about my life’s work to date, now under my own direction and interior design company (OG Design Studio). What better way to represent myself than to have my own company! So welcome one and all… for those followers who only know my blog posts, here’s an opportunity to see what I do when I’m not blogging (and if you’re very familiar with my blog, you’ll know that this other stuff has taken up much of my blogging time these past few months! Oopsy!).

The new website also incorporates my blog…still under the DESIGNCHICKEE name. It will be a continuation of this blog here but will also include a look into my daily activities with clients and contractors and suppliers. I’ll give you an insider’s look into what I’m working on, key renovation tips and everything that inspires me and (hopefully) motivates my clients. After all…

“Good art inspires. Good design motivates.” Otl Aicher

So please click and take a look… and do follow along! Subscribe to the new blog via email and you won’t miss a thing! I hope to see you all on the other side! :)

Big hugs,

Olga

P.S. Everything else is staying the same…

I’ve been busy organizing my shelves, colour coding my files and re-imagining my aesthetic… all in the hopes of bringing you more of what I’m all about. Fullscreen slideshows. New identity. Portfolio images. Client testimonials. And an awesome contact page.

Stay tuned for a bigger, brighter and better website!

And more blog posts… I swear!

Old and Lovely

Oldisnew

I loved this shot… had to share it. Sometimes we’re too quick to dismiss something old. Just because it’s old. Not so shiny. A little tarnished. Worn. Aged.

But for me… this faucet has been loved. And there’s something so lovely about that.

A Home – wish it was my home!

Ok. This is precisely why I became a blogger! THIS. How do I come across these images without sharing them with you??

Seriously, gorgeous! And it’s not just a home. It could be your home! It’s a hotel that you rent out and use as if it were your home. Or perhaps your best friend’s home! What a concept! Looks like I need to visit Stockholm. lol

The grey painted wood paneling, the beautiful white windows with brass detailing, that marble-carved free-standing tub… seriously?

Here. Click this for more. I can’t even go on right now. I’m type-less.

Black and Gold

black and gold

I’ve been a very bad blogger. No posts = bad blogger. And I mean, capital B, Bad Blogger!

I have good reason… Lots of new things happening in my life. Lots of great things actually… But I’m keeping secrets. :)

Not for long though… I’ll bring you all into the fold soon enough!

In the meantime… a little black and gold to tide you over. So classic. And yet so hip.

I miss you all…

Wanting: Gullfuglen

Warm and cozy blankets are a “must have” this wintery season – and full proof gift giving mastery no matter who you buy them for. And these Norwegian cozies are so special!  Modern in design and pattern, but traditional in its material and construction.

I couldn’t decide which one I wanted more… you pick!

See these (The Power Collection and Gullfuglen) and more from Funkleshop.

Wanting: Waylande Gregory

Waylande Gregory pieces are much sought after. He died in 1971 but his pieces are timeless. A prolific ceramist sculptor, he became famous for his groundbreaking technique allowing him to create very large sculptures. But for me… I’d be so very happy with these small trays. The 24 karat gold finish is stunning, peaking through white or black patterning.

These would be perfection in your front hall entry to lay your keys down. Or perhaps they’d contain your favourite jewellery in your Dressing Room? Or how about just on their own?! So warm and glowy and sparkly… sigh.

Inspired: Versailles in the Snow

What could be more inspiring than Versailles?

And since this is the season for snow and flurries and drifts and flakes that too quickly become slush and drudge and black ice… I thought that maybe I’d keep the fluffy white stuff as beautiful and magical as when it first lays down. Captured beautifully here in these photos, Versailles’ gardens are snow tipped and white capped.

Absolute magic.

Inspired: Slip House

Sometimes inspiration comes from the most mundane. Stacked shipping containers in this case!

On the outside, the look of these ‘containers’ are what makes the architecture of this home unique and definitely not mundane. Most especially at night, as it lights up from inside and becomes a glowing stack of translucent boxes.

Inside… completely utilitarian, unadorned and minimal. Just what you’d expect from a shipping container, right? See more here from Carl Turner Architects. And here for more on the Slip House.
