After spotting this artist’s work in this interior, I couldn’t help but look into more of her work.
Alison Van Pelt’s works are BIG (i.e. 9 feet x 7 feet!!!). I love the scale of these paintings. And even though the images are purposely softened and blurred, it’s the bold colour and sheer size of the pieces that make an impact. And the portraits themselves are mesmerizing, transfixing. Wish I had a wall big enough…!

This nearly knocked me over. So creative. So unique. So spirited. But then I realized it was Paola Navone‘s own apartment and it all made sense. I was overcome. I’m always impressed by her creative spirit. But I truly was overcome.
What I love most about this interior… The intensity of each colour so striking that it balances perfectly with the overall casualness of the white and grey. Not an easy task but it’s done with ease. Seemingly effortless. I say this because I truly feel creativity is one of the most difficult things to develop and harness. Because… you have to develop and harness at the same time. Grow and edit. Evolve and refine.
Bonus: See here for one of my favourite ‘wants’ also designed by Ms Navone. You’ll want it too. :)

The clocks sprung forward in my part of the world this past weekend… meaning… Spring is in the air. Above, a beautiful collection from Heidi Merrick. I love the mix of neutrals with bright, almost neon, shots of yellow, pink and orange.
Which led me to search for some interior images with great accents of colour amid neutrality. The best part of designing a room in this way… all you need to do is change those accents for a change in the overall look. Imagine what these spaces would feel like with deep mauve, cerulean blue or chocolate brown. Great bang for anyone’s buck!
