Wanting: Wooden Spectacles

November 2, 2012 § Leave a comment

Light and finely crafted (best looking plywood I’ve ever seen), these wooden pieces are more than just eyewear. They are ‘spectacles’!

I spottedĀ them while shopping in and around the famed Viktualienmarkt in Munich. For more colours, shapes and wood species… click here. I’m partial to these, Terra Mata in Nut, but might be persuaded towards the Wenge finish too! Decisions, decisions…

And if you’re wanting even more of this look…check out this earlier post on wooden timepieces, er, watches!

Instagram: Eastern Europe

October 29, 2012 § 4 Comments

A few Instagram shots from my recent trip to Europe. 5 countries in 9 days! What a whirlwind of airports, trains, architecture, music, language and food! Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Munich.

Not bad for a last minute trip, don’t you think?

Inspired: Massimo Listri

Castello di Pierrefonds, France

Reggia di Venaria II, Piemonte

Lapidorio di Palazzo Mozzi Bardini, Florence

Admont Library, Austria

Reggia di Venaria I, Piemonte

Weimar Library, Germany

Imagine being the only person in these remarkable, sometimes even restricted, interiors. Massimo Listri is the lucky one. He experiences all that detail and light and grandeur all on his own. Thankfully, he does so with his camera and captures the majestic silence in his photographs so that we too can experience true splendour.
