Warm and cozy blankets are a “must have” this wintery season – and full proof gift giving mastery no matter who you buy them for. And these Norwegian cozies are so special! Modern in design and pattern, but traditional in its material and construction.
I couldn’t decide which one I wanted more… you pick!

Having been built in 1890, it’s only natural for this Brooklyn home to have a ‘parlour’ floor. A sitting room in a private residence – charming, indeed. And, there’s that original wood closet (yes… closets looked like that back then), cleverly transformed to house the new, stainless steel stove and european-sized fridge in the kitchen.
But that’s pretty much where the ‘bygones’ end. This home is modern and sleek, balanced with pieces of vintage treasure and industrial accents. The highlight: the third floor master bedroom suite complete with a luxurious free-standing tub across from an actual wood burning fireplace. I especially love the floating shelves, built in storage cabinets and recessed wall niche – room for storage and display of the homeowners quirky collection. And have you noticed? There’s a another fireplace on that very floor… across from the bed!
Sigh… some homes have all the luck!

A modern interior need not be cool, edgy and stark. It can be warm, rough-hewn and natural. Case in point… Fashion designer Jenni Kayne’s home comes together with travertine, salvaged pine siding, hand-hewn oak and board-formed concrete. Warm shades of grey and tan and cream.
I love the fireplace and especially how it is mirrored on the exterior of the home. What a great setting for an outdoor room!
The artwork is key for me in the Master Bedroom. Scale… So important.
And what lucky kids to have such a great playroom! That Beni Ourain rug is simply beautiful.
