Inspired: Versailles in the Snow

What could be more inspiring than Versailles?

And since this is the season for snow and flurries and drifts and flakes that too quickly become slush and drudge and black ice… I thought that maybe I’d keep the fluffy white stuff as beautiful and magical as when it first lays down. Captured beautifully here in these photos, Versailles’ gardens are snow tipped and white capped.

Absolute magic.

Instagram: Eastern Europe

A few Instagram shots from my recent trip to Europe. 5 countries in 9 days! What a whirlwind of airports, trains, architecture, music, language and food! Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Munich.

Not bad for a last minute trip, don’t you think?

Snapshots: Greyed

From ornate elevators, classically detailed archways, Roman memorials, gothic cathedrals and an elaborate fountain… these shots looked best in black and white. Lisbon and Évora, Portugal.

Roaming: Madrid’s Plaza Mayor

I’m reminiscing about my trip earlier this year to Madrid, Spain. There’s something so imperial about this place, Plaza Mayor. Maybe it’s the statue of King Phillip III, imposing and majestic, planted firmly in the centre of the square. Or maybe it’s the red stuccoed walls, embracing and containing historical events for centuries past. I remember walking into the square and being in awe of the symmetry and the colour and the architecture. Filled with street performers, shops and restaurants, it’s a surprisingly quiet repository in a busy, bustling city.

Truly, one of my favourite moments in Madrid.

Inspired: Parisian Life

I came across these photos and was instantly transported to the ‘City of Light’, Paris. But I never really equate that tagline with Paris. Instead, I remember it being a million shades of brown, cream and slate grey. Robyn Thompson‘s photos are the closest representation of that memory for me. Inspired: Ghost Structures

I’ve always loved seeing ‘building scars’… that’s what I call them. Old buildings that have now been demolished but have left behind their imprint. A ghost image of what was once there. A story now lost, but not forgotten.

Then I found Marcus Buck and this series of photographs!

And now I don’t feel so alone. ;)
